Eilen kaikki hevoset hyppäsivät hyvin ja oli nollilla ja sijoilla paitsi Rex jolla oli yksi alas toisessa vaiheessa. Rex oli vähän väsyneen olonen ja yski pari kertaa joten se saa jäädä kotiin tänään jos sillä olisi vaikka joku flunssa...

Tänään hyppään 140 cm Avant luokan jossa ratsastan Onnin ja CaoIlan. Katsotaan miten pärjätään. Onnilla oli eilen oikein kiva päivä. Ensin se oli tarhassa nauttimassa auringossa. Sen jälkeen maastoiltiin ja pidettiin hauskaa. Ja lopuksi se sai vielä hieronnan ja venyttelyä että se jaksaisi hyvin tänään GP ssä!

Soon on the road again.

Yesterday all horses jumped good and was clear and placed except for Rex who had one down in the secondface. Rex felt a bit tired and was coughing a few times so he will stay at home today in case he has a flue or something...

Today I will jump the 140 cm avant gp with Onni and Caol Ila. Let's see how we manage. Onni had a good day yesterday. First he enjoyed the sunny paddock. After that I rode him out in the woods and had a lot of fun and then he got a massage and stretching so he will feel good today.

Grateful for having you...

Saavuin juuri kisapaikalle Ypäjälle. Tänään hyppään kolmella hevosella täällä. Hevoset matkustivat hyvin ja köllöttää tyytyväisen näköisenä autossa. Viikonlopun aikana hyppään yhteensä kuudella ihanilla hevosilla. Olen kiitollinen siitä että tällä hetkellä on todellat hevoset ja niitten kanssa on aina kivaa lähteä kisoihin!! Elikkä kiitos hepoille! Ja toivon että viikonloppu menee hyvin sillä taas on Avant gold cup gpnä sunnuntaina jota toistaiseksi vielä johdan ja toivottavasti tilanne pysyy vielä samana ;)!

Show arena

I just arrived at the show in Ypäjä. Today I ride three horses here. The horses traveled well and are looking quite confy in the lorry. All in all I'm showing six horses at the weekend. I'm grateful for having such nice horses and it's always as fun going to the show with my homies! So thanx my lovely horses! Hope I'm successful on the weekend because it's the Avant gold cup on Sunday again and I currently in the lead so let's hope it stays that way, yay!

My new proffesion...

En ole ehtinyt kirjoittaa pari viimeistä päivää kun on ollut niin paljon tekemistä. Mutta nyt. 

Maneesiin on tuotu uutta hiekkaa niin kuin kerroin. Eilen illalla kun kaikki oli ratsastettu ja tunnit pidetty niin päätettiin avaa grilli kausi jonka jälkeen ruvettiin erottelemaan geopaddia maneesiin uuden hiekan päälle. Nyt sitä pitää vain sekoittaa hiekan joukkoon. Kun oltiin melkein valmiita ja rupesi jo olemaan pikkasen tylsää hommaa niin keksin paljon hauskempaa tekemistä ja tein lumi enkeleitä geopadin seassa :D.

Eilen ja tänään pidin tavallisten valmennuksien lisäksi estetunteja Peikin ratsastuskoulussa kun Peik itse on Drammenissa tyttäreensä kanssa kv kilpailuissa. Olen tottunut pitämään valmennuksia yksittäisille oppilaille niin tämä oli ihan uusi kokemus. Olin ensin vähän pihalla ja huomasin että aika meni ihan liian nopeasti. Mutta tänään olin enemmän perillä asioista ja meni oikein sujuvasti. Oli kivaa pitää tunteja niin innokkaille oppilaille ja sain kivaa palautetta! Sitä paitsi niillä oli ihania heppoja jotka tekivät kaiken kiltisiti ja hyppäsivät oikein hienosti. Ehkä tämä voisi olla uusi ammattini...? No ehkä ei, mutta oli kivaa!

I have not had the time to write the last couple of days because I have been so busy. But now!

Like I told you there is new sand in the indoor. Yesterday evening after I had been riding all horses and we suddenly decided to have the first stable barbeque we went to the indoor to spread the geopad. Now it just needs to be mixed in with the sand. When we where almost ready and it got a bit boring we goofed around and I was making snow angles in it :D.

Yesterday and today I was training my usuals and also giving jumping lessons at Peiks riding school as Peik is in Drammen with his daughter at an international show. It was the first time giving lessons at a riding school. At the beginning I was a bit lost with so many horses and pupils at ones but then I got the hang of it. It was realy fun to give lessons to such eager pupils and I got nice feedback! The horses where also super nice and behaving well. So maybe this could be my new proffesion..? Well.. mabye not, but it was fun anyway!

Done! Tomorrow we mix in the geopad which is a fiber textile and makes the texture even better together with the sand. 

Tervehdys kaikille! Eilen oli vaapaa päivä. Mutta tänään takaisin töihin! Ratsastin hepat ja illalla tuli vihdoin uusi hiekka maneesin ja nyt se näyttää ja tuntuu todella hyvältä! Siitä tulikin mieleen kirjoittaa mitä mieltä olen erilaisista pohjista.

Minusta on äärimmäisen tärkeätä ratsastaa erilaisilla pohjilla jotta hevonen tottuu siihen ja tulee sitänyöten vahvemmaksi. Meillä on hyvä pohja sekä maneesissa että ulko kentällä. Ei mikään huippu "hifistelty" pohja mutta se ei petä eikä ole liian kova ja antaa hyvällä tavalla pikkaisen periksi kun hevonen laskeutuu esteeltä. Siinä on ne tärkeimmät elementit! 

Olen ajanmyötä huomannut että hevoset reagoivat erilailla eri pohjille. Pienemmissä kisoissa ei aina ole täydellinen pohja tai sitten on tosi erilaiset pohjat verryttelyssä ja kilpailu areenalla. Sen kanssa joutuu elämään mutta on hyvä kiinnittää huomiota miten oma hevonen käyttäytyy milläkin pohjalla. Esim. kuuma hevonen saattaa kuumentua entistä enemmän jos pohja on löysä ja syvä. Varovainen hevonen saattaa siinä ylihypätä koska tuntuu raskaammalta syvällä pohjalla. Kova pohja taas voi aiheuttaa sen että hevonen seisoo vähän vastaan koska ei tunnu kivalta laskeutua kovalle esteen jälkeen. Kaikki hevoset ovat erilaisia ja voi reagoida ihan päinvastoin. Kun kiinnittää näihin juttuihin huomiota voi tehdä hevosen työn helpommaksi ja ei tehdä liikaa sitä mikä tuntuu epämukavalta jotta sinä ja hevonen menis radalle hyvällä fiiliksellä!

Sunset  ...

Hello everybody! Today was my day off but today it ment back to work! I rode the horses and after that the new sand came to our indoor. It looks and feels so good now! So that's where I got the idea to write about what I think of riding surfaces.

I find it very important to ride on different surfaces to make the horses use to it and to strengthen them in that way. We have a good ground both in the indoor and at the outdoor arena. It's not a very fancypancy ground but it's not too deap or hard and sags a tiny little bit when the horse lands after the fence. I think those are the most important elements!

I have noticed that the horses react very differently on different riding surfaces. Specially at smaller shows the grounds are not always the best, or then the warm up ground differences a lot from the show ring ground. That's something we just have to live with but it's important to pay attention to how your horse reacts to it. For example a hot horse may get even hotter if the ground is deap and loose. A careful horse may jump way to high on the soft ground when it feels more difficult and hard. And the hard ground can make the horse approach the fence a bit less willing when landing can feel unplesant. All horses are different and can of course react totally the opposite way. When you pay attention to these things you can make your horses job easyer and not do to much of the stuff that feels difficult and go in to the ring with a better feeling!

Are you doing it right..?

Ensi viikonloppuna olen menossa kisoihin kuuden hevosen kanssa ja se vaatii aika tarkkaa suunnittelua myös kuljettamisen suhteen. Kerron tänään miten mielestäni pitää hevosta kuljettaa turvallisesti. Kun olen kisoissa näen paljon erilaisia tapoja varsinkin lastauksissa ja jotkut niistä näyttää siltä että asiaa ei ole harkittu lainkaan joten tässä pari vinkkiä :)

Oletko sinä huomannut jotain sopimatonta tapaa lastata ym. kisoissa? 

-tarkista että trailerissa/hevosautossa ei ole extra naruja tai muuta vastaavaa mihin hevonen voisi jäädä kiinni. 

-jos hevonen tarvitsee loimea matkan ajaksi, laita sellainen joka pysyy eikä niin että valuu matkan aikana ja hevonen villiinty ja on vaaraksi itselleen.

-pakkaa aina extra riimu ja riimunnaru mukaan.

-kun viet hevosta kulkuneuvoon, ole rauhassa ja älä laita hevosta kiinni ennen kuin puomi/väliseinä on laitettu kiinni.

-muista ajaa mutkat rauhassa ja kokeile joskus seistä vaikka tyhjässä traikussa niin huomaat miten epävakaalta se saattaa tuntua :).

-kun olet perillä, älä avaa puomia/väliseinää ennen kun olet irrottanut hevosen.

I'm cruising between wk and the stables today.

Next week I’m going to a show with six horses. It takes quite a lot of planning to organize the logistics with so many horses. You see pretty much dangerous situations at show when it comes to loading the horses in trailers and trucks, so i thought that I would tell you couple of rules that I always follow for safety reasons. Often the loading looks like it isn’t planned at all.

Have you seen some inappropriate loading situations?

So my tips:

-Check that there is no extra stuff in the part where the horse travels so that it doesn’t glide into the horses legs or gets itself tangled in it.

-If the horse needs a blanket, see that it breaths and doesn’t glide.

-Always have an extra halter and rope with you.

-When you load the horse, be calm and don’t tie up the horse before the wall or pole is closed.

-Remember to drive very slowly and carefully in the curves… everybody should try to stand in a trailer once, it can feel pretty unstable if you drive to fast 

-Untie the horse before you open the door or the pole when you take it out.

These are the most important ones! Have a good trip!

Many of you know this already ... But I will write it anyway!

Eilen oli minun vapaa päivä joka vietettiin Fillen ja Ronjan kanssa Westankärrissä. Siellä on aina niin kaunista niin kuin usein jaksan täällä hehkuttaa :).

Moni teistä varmaan tietääkin mutta kerron silti. Elikkä, meillä on suunnitelmissa rakentaa omaa tallia  Westankärille. Rakennus luvat on jo olemassa ja kohtapuolin ruvetaan tekemään pohja työtä. Haetaan parhaillaan tarjouksia erilaisista rakennusfirmoista. 

Koko tämä homma on minulle ja Fillelle ihan uutta joten onneksi meillä on vanhemmat ja muut asiantuntijat tukena kun suunnitellaan.

Tillalla on jo juhlatilan vuokrausta josta löytyy myös tilakauppa, maanviljellystä, metsätaloutta ja noin 1000 lammasta. Mutta sen lisäksi haluttiin tuoda minun unelmaa ja elämäntyö tilalle myös jota johtaisimme yhdessä.

Tämä on meille iso askel elämässä ja me pohdittiin kauan minkälaista toimintaa me halutaan pitää uudessa tallissa. Vaihtoehtoina oli ratsastus koulua, vammais ratsastusta, ryhmämaastoilua, laadukkaiden hevosten vuokraus, ja vaikka mitä. 

Ratsastan tiestysti omat hevoset ja sitten on ratsutettavia ja sitä haluan jatkaa mutta haluttiin jotain sen lisäksi. Tilalla on aivan ihanaa maastoa joka sopisi täydellisesti nuorille hevosille. Joten minun ratsastettavien ja kilpailtavien hevosten lisäksi olisi nuoria hevosia kasvamassa. Siellä on niin idyllistä ja heillä olisi isot laitumet joilla kasvaa ja leikkiä laumassa. Katsotaan mihin se johtaa ja kuinka se lähtee käyntiin... Ensin pitää kuitenkin se talli rakentaa ;). Onko teillä mielipiteitä? Mikä olisi teidän mielestä hyvä liikeidea? Tai onko teillä kokemusta ja voisitte antaa viimehetken vinkkejä ;)?

Yesterday was my day off and we spent it at Westankärr with Fille and Ronja. Its just so beautiful there as I quite often have told you :).
A lot of you maybe know this already but I will write this anyway. The thing is, we are planing to build a stable at Westankärr. We already have the permission to build and in about a month they are going to start working with the ground (or how you say it...). At the moment we are trying to find the best offer from builders. 
All of this is totally new for Fille and I so we are very happy to have the support from both our parents  and other professionals as we plan a long.

At the farm there is an event location for rent and under the same roof a farm shop, agriculture, forestry and about 1000 sheep. But along side that we wanted to bring my dream and lifework there so that we could run it together. This is a very big step in our life and we where thinking a lot about what kind of business we wanted to run. We where thinking about a riding school, disable riding, outdoor group riding, quality horse renting and all you can think of.

I ride my own horses and the ones I have from costumers and I will of course continue with that, but we wanted something more beside it. At the farm there is such a lovely lanscape which would be perfect for young horses. So alongside my horses and my costumers horses there would be a bunch of young horses growing up and moving together in big fields. So lets see where it will lead us and how we get started... oh yea, and the stable have to be built first ;). What are your opinions? What do you think would be the best business idea? Do you perhaps have experience and want to shear som last minute advice with me ;)?

Kai sitä ottaa asiat itsestäänselvyytenä vaikka kuinka yrittää olla kiitollinen ja muistaa miten asiat voisivat olla huonosti. Luulen kuitenkin että se on aika normaalia ja ihan hyvä kin. Muuten han sitä miettisi aina että täytyy olla varautunut siihen että rakkaille sattuisi jotain minä hetkenä hyvänsä. Ja uskon että sellainen ei olisi kauhean terveellistä... Joten vaikka olenkin surulline Vaillantin pois menosta niin voin itse päättää haluanko jatkaa surullisena vai päätänkö olla positiivinen ja antaa ajan parannella haavoja. Ja sehän on selvää että valitsen toisen vaihtoehdon! ei hän se elämä muuten kivaa ole!

I guess you do take things for granted even if you try not to. And I guess its quite okay and normal. Imagine if you would not, then you would only go around preparing for your loved ones to get hurt and that can't be good either... So even if I`m sad about Valiant passing away I can choose to be miserable or I can choose to be positive and let time heal the wounds. And off course I choose to be positive! Life would be no good otherwise!


So today I will shear with you my big news that was done by me signing a paper yesterday.

Onni was Second in the Avant Goldcup. Still in the lead! The other horses where also good. Sebbe was 4th and Rex 6th in the 130 cm.
